hi guys,
Before i write anything… i would like to advice chinmay and sushbush not to fight like kids here. As for the whole atmosphere here…. the TRUTH stands out clear from the FAKE. my advice to all the guys is that, go for CBX extreme or Unicorn if ur choice n budget is for 150 cc. you will be assured with a trouble free ride for even a decade (depends). and if you want a higher performance bike… then wait for zma FI with fuel injection. if you have a little more patience then wait till a higher cc Honda/yamaha vehicle is launched. Yamaha may come up with a higher capacity bikes in 2008 and so will honda… but yamaha is more likely to come out first with its Fazer 250.
I dont want to fight with pulsarians because their comments are baseless. and i dont want to be a kid by fighting with them. i went to Pro-Biking today and saw the P220 for the first time. I tested it in the testing platform what they have in the hyd showroom. I am trully impressed with this facility (platform) and they said its a german equipment…. Thank God bajaj did not build that… else i would have sky rocketed and crashed killing atleast 5 people, when i did a 120 with the bike.
Here is my review abt the P220….
1. good raw untamed power
2. very poor quality even in the tank
3. very poor welding quality even for its main frame. chk it out.
4. poor mirror visibility
5. same old boring pulsar… with a couple of HP more.
6. same old horrible/pathetic build quality
7. same old un-reliable engines (its the same engine family)
8. the low beam projector lamp is impressive.
9.a hefty 91k on road price. why should one pay so much for this scrap metal?
10.
i own a brand new unicorn (earlier i had a rx 135)…. The unicorn’s main plus points is its ultra refined power plant and the state of the art monoshocks, providing it top-notch handling and very competitive performance compared to pulsars. the difference is when pulsar screams out unpleasantly the unicorn does it silky smooth. For guys who wants a little higher doze of power then go for cbz extreme. heard its nice. but not a big leap of a power difference from unicorn… so i would suggest guys to go for the one which looks better in your eyes. after all looks matter too. The unicorn is once again higher in quality compared to cbzX. Sorry, i wont compare it with pulsars. i never insult my bikes.
According to me, Bajaj Pulsar sales is high because of several reasons:-
1. Because some people trust bajaj as they trust Maruti
2. Pulsar was the first bike in india which was powerfull enough to beat the then cbz.
3. They had then, the top of line 180 cc.
4. Totally new styling concept…street fighter like and a bit resembling to ducati dark monster (i liked the looks then but now i am pretty bored with it)
5. The right timing of the launch of product.
6. a few funky and some useless features provided.
but my questions about bajaj are:-
1. Why bajaj is panicking about honda?
2. why are they providing all fancy features which atracts many orthodox customer lineup?
3. Why do they provide backlit switches for pulsar? not even 1/1000 riders will see the switch and then operate. I would agree it if there are that many switch controls like the Honda Goldwing
4. They and even people say that the speedo instument is the most fault free…. then why is the rpm needle responding late. check it out… for quick throttle raise n release the rpm needle goes up after the throttle is closed.
5. Why is the LCD display too much bright orange lit in the night condition?(zma LCD light is perfect) my eyes are getting strained. And i am sure that 8/10 pulsariance would say “wow! amazing!!”
6. Why was P200 fork faulty? why wasnt it tested at all before its launch?
7. Why didnt bajaj recall the P200 publicly?
8. Why does the rear fenders which is designed new for UG3 dancing with every bump on the road? did they test it when they changed the existing design? The same goes with front forks as well.
9. Why are other manufacturers so obsessed about LED tail lamps? so why does the people?
10. why bajaj is not improving on its quality of bike? (please dont judge quality by just looking at the petrol tank paint job finishing)
11. Why bajaj does not improve on its gear box? why is there a lot of slippage in lower gears? Why clutch problems not rectified?
12. Why is the front suspension of pulsar too soft than required? Compare the suspension response of that of a HONDA. I suspect this tht bajaj want to make people feel the power. the suspension gives the feeling tht the bike is powerfull in every gear initial acceleration. This is so dangerous during hard braking.
13. why people give priority to LED tail lamps rather than the main powerplant of the bikes?
14. Honestly, how many pulsarians are having a smooth ride after 2-3 years of owning the bike?
These questions are not asked in an intention to make fun… but they are just to read and wonder out of all the people who i know having pulsars… all of them are unhappy about the ride quality after a year.. and some even after 4-5 months. and out all the people who i know and own unicorn, none are upset about the choice of vehicle.
It was a tough job for honda to play they game in india. and i trully agree the after sales service are truly not upto the mark. but even i can see that improving a little bit now.
I would not like honda if it hits the PANIC button and starts providing a few gizmos like its competitors… just to be in the competition. I would anyhow welcome it but I am sure if they do it… then pulsar would provide something extra and useless, for example:- A Weather Forecast Instrument on the LCD,etc :))) and it would defenitely be a HIT and people would expect the same from other bikes. Irrespective of my comments, i would heartly welcomed these features…. Had they improved on the engines, performance, handling and quality.
Honda will defenitley climb up in sales figures…. but with a time and progressive improvement in marketing strategy. For sure people will understand the value of product in time.
Note:- out of all races i had against pulsar with my unicorn, not even once did i lose. i dont care if its a 150 or 180. never tried it with P200 or P220 and i am sure i wont win in the straights neither in the acceleration. But hey… i can try it out in the curvy roads…. and hey my bike is just 150 cc
i even used to beat them off easily with my 9 year old RX 135. btw did any one imagine about a 9 year old pulsar on road? Please don’t laugh!
With time honda will learn the indian customers and their needs.
And before any critisizes just imagine how bajaj would have handled the situation if they launched a new bike in some new country like ZAMBIA????
And what ever the cases are… i still applaud to the bajaj coz they have achieved success at a huge scale… and made pulsars which is a big hit in INDIA!!
But beleive me guys the sales are coming down. 2 years down the line what is NOW will be HISTORY!!
Note: for better continued performance for unicorn on long rides and very hot conditions try changing the engine oil. Use the same grade 20w40. dont exceed 40 as it will be thicker than recomended, and the engine will be tighter in normal temp, but goof in very high temp. Try to use synthetic oils from Mobil 1 or motul. Valvouline has also got its semi synthetic oils.
And please do wear a helmet always! It is not a crappy ugly piece meant to be just dangling on your handle bars or helmet locks. Its a part of your attire… so keep it clean and neat… especially the visor.
So enjoy your biking guys whether its a unicorn or pulsar or zma or a cbz. Just give them the right care and attention and it will serve you better and it will keep you happy and safe!
Biking means freedom to me and i dont ride fast… i just FLY LOW!!!
Chillax Guys…. CIAO!!!
