HAVING A SELF-START CAN BE CONSIDERED AS MODERN

Hi Blaster! Regarding considering the fact u said about the “absence of kick start” in Bajaj higher end bikes. Its a very strong debate to take part. And i partly agree with you.
My opinion is that,
“HAVING A SELF-START CAN BE CONSIDERED AS MODERN, BUT NOT HAVING A KICK-START DOES NOT PROVE TO BE MODERN BY ANY MEANS”
the bajaj could still have incorporated a kick start for their bikes. I dont understand wht they want to prove. But with many people calling it as ADVANCED technology and a great darring step ahead, i now clearly understand what the BAJAJ wants to prove. Common, its after all single-cylinder bike!!
The higher end sports bikes not having it is due to other reasons. They dont have it because CRANKING a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder is a different story!! Just imagine the effort it would need to kick-start a 250 kg bike with 4 or 6 cylinders? possible? well.. might be yes to basket ball players, but not to common man. Did you ever realize, that most of the MotoGP riders are well below 60 kgs? just imagine how they will kick start? btw, the bikes used in races does not even have a kick-start or a self-start…. they are manually cranked by pushing the bike or by a starter kit.
Wht is the advantage of not having the Kick-start? i am really waiting from the bajaj to hear the answer. Is there so much of a weight reduction and so much of a performannce gain because of it? and is it worth compensating a compromise for not having the kick-start? I doubt the lasting of battery especially with the load they put on it. double horns, backlit switches, extra bright digital speedo, etc.
Well i am confident tht it will work perfectly ok when the bike is new. but with ageing, things will prove on the contrary. If scenarios like minor problems with the self starter, or an unclean spark plug, low fuel after a hibernating period or riching of fuel in cylinder, etc how would this work efficiently? I would desperatly need a kick-start in such occassions. The worst hit would be in the places of hill stations where the cold temperatures are at sub-zero.
But its always good for someone to test it practically. i appreciate bajaj on this. because they have a good role in creating this very competetive market trend.
not only in case of KICK-START. people wrongly feel and beleive that a digital speedo is more modern, and even clip-ons. The fact about clip-ons i have written in my previous comment.
Regarding Digital Speedo:-
Its certainly not true that a digital speedo is more modern than analog. They are modern and advanced in terms of their accuracy and the ability to measure smaller measureable units. But digitals are obviously not that expensive as you think. The circuitry and chips are cheap… only the LCD is expensive comparatively. But good/average analogs cannot be made cheap. And making an accurate analog is more costlier than digital.
Just look at this… a casio G-SHOCK which has more features is relatively cheap when compared to a swiss chronograph. It is very expensive to make an accurate analog.
If digital was all, then all high-end luxury cars would have been like CIVIC.
Hope you got my point.
But once again, i could be completely wrong!!  :)  :)  :)
